Who was that Masked Man? Real life Pulp Marvel, emerges in Bayonne N.J.

CAPTAIN BAYONNE HITS THE STREET

It was  rainy autumn night about a year or so ago that I  first witnessed a dark figure running along a construction sight in the smokey mostly blue collar city of Bayonne. to any of my readers who have never been through the semi metropolis of Bayonne, let me give you a synopsis of the place. For the most part it is a peninsula squeezed between Hoboken , Jersey city , across the River and a tunnel away from Manhattan. 

 

  Through its many decades it has been host to many creative giants and a hot bed of underground talents that have risen up and many more who have just stayed quietly doing their work in the inner sanctum of its sequestered walls.  It is not unusual to see Opera singers practicing in the Park or Evangelists dressed as Elvis preaching from  musical vans. That being said , when you pass a masked man in spandex  speeding past a dumpster, you need not look twice, Unless you notice as  I did that there was a special quality to his Appearance.What struck me , was that our   sub rosa   marauder  looked surprising like a real life super Hero.  Glistening in the street light along the eerie construction sight, steam rising up from the street and broken umbrellas scattered around like dead birds, I noticed from my rear view that he had a full head mask in bright outline,The kind you might see Mexican wrestlers wear at 3 am. on the El mondo channel. He ran fast, very fast, I slowed down for a better  intense  look and he almost caught up with me. I was glad the light was green.  When I brought this up to people no one had heard any thing about him . I  let it go shaking it off as an isolated incident of a local eccentric taking his surreal impulses out for a walk, until weeks  later, I saw him again, only this time he darted across a crosstown street. I thought he had a different outfit on. but the same mask.  Now pictures are emerging and some have referred to him as "Captain Bayonne". but still no real data that I know of explaining his Mission.  I will keep you posted .
